People used to watch to see the glamorously bizarre dresses the actresses were wearing. Joan Rivers ruled the red carpet by making snarky comments about and to them. It all seemed like mindless fun. First they ruined it by getting political and reminding everyone that actors are just a bunch of pretty, well-dressed low IQ script readers. Then the public realized that all the actresses (and some actors) were whoring themselves out to fat ugly producers to get those parts and big-time actors and directors were raping women and children. The innocence and fun was gone and all the glamour looked cheap and sleazy.
