Ya. From my understanding, the northern mediterranean people crushed the bronze age economy by continuous military engagements because of how complex the copper supply chain was. There was more to it then just negros. But the negros certainly didn't add any value.

The Egyptians were still the Egyptians when they were ruled by their own kings, by the Greeks, and by the Romans. The Greek and Roman presence in Egypt was relatively small when compared with the Egyptian population as a whole. It was mostly confined to Alexandria and parts near the Mediterranean.
