Russian Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky will lead a working group to create a new school textbook on the country's history. It will take about a year to write it, Sergei Kravtsov, the head of the Ministry of Education, told TASS on Sunday, December 18. "We are not creating textbooks from scratch, we already have textbooks on history, edited by Anatoly Vasilyevich Torkunov, and other textbooks," the minister said. Kravtsov reminded that the work will take a year, or a little more. Medinsky has previously made a proposal to choose a single history textbook for Russian schools. He suggested choosing the best option through a contest. "A single textbook and a single one are two big differences," he said. The Ministry of Education was previously offered to create a textbook on the history of Ukrainian separatism.
