They weren't remotely leftist but they were fairly progressive by Traditionalist standards. People today measure them by modern benchmarks but if you compare them to the regimes of the 19th century they were quite progressive, for instance promoting female emancipation and the opening up of the workforce to women, which was unthinkable for most of history for good reason. It wasn't a Nazi policy but Hitler was very much a progressive when it came to food and had some degenerate modernist vegetarian views including the belief that children should be kept from eating meat.
The problem is that almost all criticism of the Nazis comes from leftwards, so it's easy to view the Nazis as some sort of political extremity when in fact they really weren't all that right wing and had plenty of critics among far-right philosophers and writers.
