If you follow people like you know that people from Europe most likely visited, settled, and conquered parts of North and South America multiple times over the millennia. It’s not surprising that Marco Polo, with his more advanced ships and navigation reached those shores.

This is interesting:

Polo was meant to explore the far reaches of the empire in order to determine the source of _furs_, precious stones, gold, perfumes and dyes that were being imported into the Yuan Dynasty in China.

Are they saying there were furs from beyond the East coast of Asia being imported into China?

That would mean Asian traders were visiting North America regularly to hunt or trade with the natives.
