Morris Cohen is an interesting character. He was born in Poland, but his family emigrated to England. As a boy, he was arrested for pick-pocketing in London. The judge sentenced him to "the Hayes Industrial School, an institution set up by Lord Rothschild to care for and train wayward Jewish lads." Later he moved to Canada, where he was repeatedly jailed for offenses including sex with a child.

In Canada he befriended the Chinese immigrants, and when he was appointed a public notary ("on the personal recommendation of the Attorney General") he used the position to help immigrants get naturalization. After the First World War, he went to China and got a job working for Sun Yat-sen, thanks to an introduction from the Jew George Sokolsky who had been in China for some years.

On the other hand, Leese refers to, "The Soviet General, B. K. Galen, who was really a Jew called Chesin, and was nicknamed Blucher". This man, actually Vasily Konstantinovich Blyukher, who used the name "Galen" in China, but whose real family name was actually "Gurov", was apparently not a Jew at all, as far as I can tell. Instead he came from a Russian peasant family, and had been a factory worker and trade unionist before being conscripted in 1914.
