Yeah. I really need to move the hell out of the city too. A lot of stuff I'm missing because of poor horizons and light pollution.
Same here. I live in an area where it doesn't take long to drive into total darkness though.
My uncle used to live in Lake Tahoe, he said it was amazing up there. You could see the satellites go by all the time with your naked eye and the star gazing was out of this world. I'd love to move out west like that eventually.
I ended up in Utah by accident (my job went away, company made an offer to move me to another. I moved because I like to eat - LOL). I would've never in a million years chosen this place, but once here, that all changed. A great place to live. The Mormons more or less don't bother you. And quite conservative with everything from deserts, mountains, anything outdoors, even world class ski resorts. I like it now. I got lucky.
