It's a plasma toroid after several thousand years of the game telephone.

Look into "petroglyphs and plasma". The sun micro-nova'd about 12,000 years ago, wiping out most human beings. People drew pictures of plasma torroids in the sky all over the world. NASA found evidence of this on the moon, and plenty of evidence has been found on earth (fission tracks).
