The literal hillbillies I worked with 35 years ago claimed a person who chewed Copenhagen would never get worms, so there's probably something to this.

I chewed Cope for over 25 years. After awhile you get kind of immune to it, and you don't salivate much. When you do, you usually just swallow it - no biggie. Coincidentally, I never had worms.

FWIW many folks in the Army used to eat matchstick heads to prevent bug bites in the field. I was one of them, and it definitely worked and I never got sick or anything from it. However, if you search it up basically all sources that not only will it not work it will make you sick. So whatever they say about little remedies is not even kinda credible.
