Ummm, why wouldn't it do the same to the lining of your GI tract?

Good question, but diatoms are too small to cause damage to GI tract, all they do is scrub it out.

There are people who take it daily their entire lives and didn't get any negative effects from it.

Huh. I only ever heard of it being a natural pesticide for gardening
