In CDC papers, they claim the CDC occasionally, for a large hospital, does a special battery of discerning test using the now-comically-discredited overamplified PCR test. They then, in summary divide up all the strains and claim as you asserted, that the vast majority are strains under the WHO designated term "delta variant".
