Much of the medical industry is fluff. We are seeing it now. However some of these layoffs are not. There are a lot of services that travel from building to building to provide different types of care. With the COVID shit. These workers are not welcomed (makes you wonder if they were ever needed or if this is a billing scam...another topic). It is high risk to have these people bounce from building to building. Most of them are being laid off.
As far as specialty nurses working the floor. Eh... that sucks for them. Floor nurses can make as low as 16 dollars an hour. If you're used to making 25-30 that is a huge cut.
