I know a few authors and they all independently told me Amazon offers "used" books on the first day of sales.

Most likely those “used books” are books damaged during shipping, and I doubt that Amazon is selling them as used solely for the purpose of screwing the author out of their royalties. Buts it’s still a bullshit exploit…
