Well when you look at current guns vs older guns, most of the advancement in gun tech was done in the 1700s/1800s with John Browning and Colt. So really, even by their flimsy bullshit logic, all guns of today can be traced back to the 1800s. The material may have changed, and some of the design work is somewhat different, and sure, now they decided to charge you 100$ to drill a hole in the barrel because some asshole couldn't check if the chamber was clear or not without racking the gun, but the basic core design of any modern firearm predates the 21st century
