The parents are responsible for the actions of their underage child. It seems quite clear that this was not a spontaneous act, in fact it may have been premeditated.. the kid made very alarming posts on his social media.

His fellow classmates were concerned to the point that some skipped school on the day of the shootings. His parents must have known he was a danger. Yet the pistol he used was purchased just days prior.

Maybe the parents feared their own child and as a result purchased the pistol for self defense, but why would they not ensure that the pistol was kept safe from him?

Why did they not alert the police and school administration to the fact that they feared the child might be planning to do harm?

I suppose I'm making an argument for red flag laws here, which I admit are very easily abused in the present form. The spirit of those laws however are to protect others in cases like this.

If an angsty and retarded teen takes his parent's car and hits someone are they at fault? Uses mom's butcher knife?

Parents aren't keen on having their kids taken by the state, and the school allowed him on the premises after knowing his conditions.

Also, we are fed info, we know he is retarded form the picture, everything else is to play us.

Perhaps not in every case, but yes.. Generally speaking, parents should be held responsible in my opinion.
