Indeed. I don't actually recommend shooting up, as a general rule.

I like to describe it like this:

If you snort coke here and there, maybe even binge when time allows, it's like you're dating. Once you start shooting it up it's pretty much as though you've married it.

I can take or leave coke - but that's not true for opiates. Even then, shooting coke is a bit more intense and I have to make a concerted effort to put that down.
