Last night my buddy Chris came over with a case of beer and we got drunk together and jammed out some drunken music.

Well, I haven't heard that song in a long, long time. Dexys Midnight Runners, from the early 80s. Don't ask me the specific year. I want to say they were from across the pond - a UK band. Don't quote me on any of that. I should use Google first, but I'm just gonna smash the button.

Our tracks come from the same era and style, really. Interesting coincidence!

I think they were from Scotland or something like that.

I was playing the guitar that I built on that song. Chris quit playing about a third of the way in, so you can hear the guitar I built the whole rest of the song. I think it has a real nice tone and sound

Here is another song we played all drunk last night. This is one I made up just last weekend or something and I was telling Chris about it and how I don't have no words for it and he said well just fucking play it! So I did. Then he started singing whatever was in his head I guess and somewhere along the way in the middle of it all he pressed record. Here is fuck that (soundcloud.com)

Tonight's track is actually quite special, but it's done well enough that folks didn't notice.

I shared it once in a thread that was lost to time due to Voat being down and it was never recovered. I do believe I've shared it once since then, and only once.

The song's called Video Killed The Radio Star and was written by a band named "The Buggles". It was the first song ever played on a new TV channel that we'd come to know as MTV. (Back then they played videos. Imagine that!)

But, that's where the similarity ends...

See, I got the tab from someone I've known of (and sometimes emailed back and forth a bit) named Sungha Jung. He arranged this when he was quite young, so I've actually taken his work and improved upon it (something not said without at least a touch of ego). Jung is far less known than he should be, as he's one of the greatest guitar players out there today.

But, he's had all sorts of pressure put on him and he's currently enjoying his adult years. Well, fairly early adult years...

Anyhow, there's some differences in this version (and I've shared the modified tab elsewhere):

I never shared it again 'cause it just didn't sound nearly as complicated as it is. At the time, I was doing a bunch of overly complicated tracks. This one slipped through the cracks of the listeners, more than it slipped through the real cracks. It wasn't until today that I decided to say fuck it and toss it out again.

Niggers ruined MTV.

I'd agree with 'ruined', but they still have large chunks of people enjoying the channel. So, I don't think they'd agree with your assessment.
