If there's one thing I'm pretty certain about, it's that I've never authored such an article.

If I did, it has completely disappeared from my memory and the website.

I do believe we've used 'wget' (a terminal command) to download a browser before installing it. We might have even installed it with the terminal.

That could have been it, unfortunately my memory is not photographic so I am unable to re-read it in my head.
