I think I recall that from a while ago. I was out of mains power for the better part of 24 hours. I'm actually surprised we got power restored that quickly. We had a pretty major wind storm and surprisingly good results as far as power delivery goes. It didn't bother me. When the mains power goes down, my house goes into efficiency mode where things I don't care about don't get any power. That's stuff like the bright lights outside... That stuff goes down, but the rest of the house is fine. I have both solar and wind, both feeding giant packs of batteries. I can go a week or so without any power generation and indefinitely as long as the wind blows and sun shines. It doesn't even need to be a clear day for me to generate plenty of solar power. If all that fails, I have a generator that powers the whole house. It's fed through an in-ground kerosene (heating oil, really) tank. However, the only time the generator kicks on is when it self-tests or for inspection. That'll charge the batteries, not running the house directly. We haven't had anything bad enough to require the generator in a few years, not since I added the additional solar and batteries. But... I connect via cell (lately). DSL pissed me off, so I also have satellite - which isn't good enough for all three of us. So, I leave that for the ladies and just use my cell as my ISP. (It's unlimited, truly unlimited - I go through 500ish GB of traffic every month which I'm sure pisses them off.) If the tower goes without power long enough, I'll loose connectivity. It's not a very stable connection.
