Yeah, I'm in the mountains. I'm about 2600' above sea level. If you go out back and keep walking up, you'll get to about 3000' above sea level.

I am close to sea level I think. 581 feet, I looked it up

LOL That's not very far up.

Hmm... Yet the lake drains into the Gulf of Mexico. That's a pretty small slope to go that whole distance and drain out a thousand miles away.

I think the lakes are connected to the Atlantic north of you, the mississippi river is not connected to the great lakes as far as I know
