Yup... And that's just an example. You just need something you can remember and that's distinct.

"Last night, I shot at a guy in 53rd street when they tried to not give me the bag of rock I paid for and I need to keep this on the down low until I find out what the cops know."

Make up whatever story works. None of them HAVE to be true.

Just gotta wait for 'em to mention the street it supposedly happened on and then tell 'em the truth. "Nope, I was just seeing who I could trust. You'll find no physical evidence to arrest me. It was just a test to see who I could trust to hold secrets."
