I have no idea how/what the engine is in this bike. It's some 3 cyl thing - cross crank something or other...

I should ask my mechanics what the hell kinda engine that is and why it's different from other engines.

I found the answer, I think...

It has to do with the crank shaft and piston position. They cross the plane of each other at 120° intervals - meaning the pistons fire (and move) in a way that reduces inertia (vibration). It's not only nothing all that fancy, it's how pretty much all bikes like that do it.

Also, be polite to the cop!

Treat them like they're a herd beast - because they are. You panic one of them and you've got a herd trampling through without a care in the world. Basically, they're like cattle. Stupid and prone to panic - which leads to a stampede. You do not want them stampeding. So, speak slowly and clearly, while making no sudden movements, and most of all remain calm - even if they appear to want to be aggressive.

Seriously, I should write a book on dealing with cops.
