I looked it up on google, to see a pic, and it looks to have similar lines to a new corvette, not it definitely is not

It gets surprisingly little attention - but those who do notice are quite eager to wave and say cool car or the likes.

So, I'm thinking it must look like a Corvette to the average non-aficionado.

There were only 999 of those made, so it's not like it is common at all.

I don't think I would think that is a Corvette. It looks like something I would want to catch up to and find out what it is!

I am not sure why it doesn't get much notice.

And, no... No, they're not very common. I probably own the only one in Maine. That's a pretty safe assumption.
