That's a new word to me too. I was thinking it might be new to you so I had to share it.

There is a lot of elevation changes there. A lot different terrain than is here

I guess there's a mountain with that name not too far from me. Mt. Monadnock, in New Hampshire. I have driven past it, but had no idea that was the name. It's also a real mountain, I think...It's both tall enough and has enough prominence to qualify as a mountain. I assume the name is due to the shape or something like that.

I would have to assume they named it that for a reason, it must be a monadnock

I would make no such assumptions. They name shit for the most random of reasons.

The mountain I am referring to is large enough to qualify as a mountain - including differing from the surrounding terrain enough to qualify aas a mountain.

Maybe a mountain can also be a monodnock? I am not exactly an expert on what is and isn't a monadnock. I just learned the word when you mentioned it.
