For whatever reason, my body just didn't want to drink enough, quickly enough, to get drunk.

I fixed that last night. Last night I was well and truly drunk.

I have no drank a drop of alcohol since last Thursday when Chris and Verle and Bob were here

I consumed enough for two of us last night. Well, no... I drank most of two six packs. Five beers each wouldn't get either of us all that drunk.
