Some pair danced to Swan Lake. They didn't fuck it up and used the symphonic version. Real pretty. I seem to remember they used it some Dracula movie.
I've mostly managed to avoid the skating (except speed skating which I enjoy),
I used to not hate it, but I really don't care for it these days. It's too technical and you end up with winners based on chance. It ha become more technical than I enjoy.
Fortunately, I can stream anything the TV doesn't get.
Last night's ladies figure skating was great live - even though it had happened hours before - TV. The Russian girl that took the gold didn't know how to act because the 15-yr-old (Vilaneva) was caught using some shit called trimetazidine and they trained together and were like buddies. Same with the other Russian girl that got silver.
It was really compelling stuff to watch. She was gonna make some kinda "fuck you Chinks" statement at the medal ceremony but the Chinese said, you better not act like niggers and do any political grandstanding before the games.
It was cool to watch. I felt sorry for Vilaneva. She got fucked by her coaches.
I didn't watch much skating. I've watched a lot of the skiing and snowboarding stuff - and a lot of the curling. I kinda want to try curling but I smashed my femur to shit back in 2018 and it's still not right. So, while I could probably get down and do that slide delivery, I'm not exactly sure how many times I'd be able to do that and then get back up. After 10 ends, I'd be remarkably sore.
It is indeed amazing how far we've been able to push human physiology. The things they do were unheard of when I was a kid - and even just a decade ago.
