We been looking online for an image of it, apparently its a semi hollow body model in sunburst or tobacco or something like that

I don't have access to my reference material, but that (I'm pretty sure) makes it a 1969 or newer. It was known as the "thinline".

He could be mistaken about the year, but he says that it has the F hole for sure

More often than not, the serial number never lies.

You should be able to search online. I have access to reference material back home. But, usually the serial number is a good start.
