Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link (fngt.gq). That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then you can donate.

I must have been. I was searching for something and couldn't find it then I got that

Yeah, you gotta wait between searches. It's like 30 seconds, I think? It may only be 5 seconds, but it may just be that you needed to wait an additional 5 seconds. I want to say it's adjustable, but can't be configured without editing the source code. It has been a while since I was an SMF dev.

Yeah, a long time ago I was on the SMF team. (Another accomplishment!)

Someone asked me earlier today how much I value my time. They were taken aback when I said my free time is worth $500 an hour to me. For $500 an hour, I will come work for you. I figure I'll be willing to work 20 hours a week at that rate. I definitely wouldn't work a full 40 hours, nor anything like overtime.

Now, I get to spend my time any way I want. For example, I'm writing an article right now and saw that I had a new message. I spent the time answering the message. I can spend my time. It's $500 an hour for SOMEONE ELSE to spend my time.

Hell yeah! $500 an hour is really a hell of a deal to get you working for them!

Assuming they use my time wisely, yes.

I suspect there are no businesses I couldn't improve once I understood them.

Now, if they try to make me weld things together for $500, they're not gonna be happy with the results. Now, if they have me learn how their business process works and offer improvements for increased productivity, safety, etc... They'd get a hell of a deal. I'm pretty good at modeling systems and then making predictions about the results!

I finished my article. I usually have articles written ahead of time, but not right now. I've not felt well lately. I'm feeling better.

Yes, the site is something I choose to spend my time on. It doesn't pay anywhere near $500 an hour! Still, I enjoy it and it helps the Linux community. Shit, my traffic is pretty awesome.

Last month, I averaged 140 unique visitors per day. On no days did I have fewer than 100 unique visitors (with a rounding error of 5%). I'm counting that as a win, though I've not done much to make the numbers go up. They're mostly going up on their own. I still need to do some more promotion.
