Probably, but I'd have to get pretty far inland for that to be of much use.

It's pretty much heavily populated for the entire eastern seaboard.

I guess I am lucky I don't have to go too far to get to where I can see the milky way

The eastern seaboard is pretty densely populated and goes inland for quite a bit.

With just guessing, I'd expect a 45 minute drive to have a reasonable view of the sky.

Hopefully La Palma doesn't crack off and fall into the ocean creating a tsunami that hits the East coast while you are there!
