Yeah... They're not gonna let me just sit the test - even if I pay them.

Now, I could sit the test on my own - but I don't think I can then opt to not be a Registered Maine Guide. I could probably immediately file my resignation paperwork, though the honorary is for life. (It's a pretty serious institution in Maine.)

I think I also have to be sponsored by one just to sit the test. Something like that.

I would assume that you could bribe your friend into sponsoring you!
