Didn't he used to have an interview show on late night TV?

You're thinking of Tom Snyder. He was another late night talk show host for a couple years. He came on after the regular late night talk shows like Letterman. He was alright but nothing special, although he did have several groups like Kiss, the Sex Pistols, John Lennon and people like Charlie Manson. It was for the late night stoners who hadn't partied out yet. I was one of them.
