Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link (fngt.gq). That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it.

We're still being lazy. We did dig out something you've not heard. It's from the 4th of July again - except we were still sober for this one. The audience was kind enough to help us out with some percussion work, which is nice. Also, these weren't recorded with a cell phone, I was wrong. They're from a pair of mics aimed to largely pick up the band. That explains the quality.

Anyhow, here you go:

BDE - Highway To Hell (07.04.21) (share.fngt.gq)

And now you'll have a greater understanding of why my voice is so trashed at the end of these shows.

You can definitely tell the crowd was in a party mood and enjoying the hell out of it.

It was a pretty good show, including this one. We had a ton of audience participation, which is always nice.

This was nearing the end of the show, in the last set. It was before we started partying.

Man oh man, that sounds like a fun show. Great job on vox, you hid that talent from us for a while.

LOL I've shared a ton in private, but yeah... I can sing, just not that great.

It sounds great to you (hopefully), but I've had the joy of working with good vocalists. I know enough to know that I'm not all that great.

You're not Robert Plant or Freddy Mercury, but you can stand before a crowd and confidently sing and play your instrument. You have to admit you're a better vocalist than the vast majority of people in the world.

Sounds great. Your voice does not sound like Bon Scott or Brian Johnson but it works.

That's the best I can do usually, sometimes I can get it a little closer, but that's about the norm for me. It hurts the fuck out of my throat so I try to not push too hard. The audience likes it well enough, so that works for me.

Yeah those singers are not the easiest to mimic without ruining your throat. Unless you're Verle

If I tried that I wouldn't be able to sing for a month or more. Very well done Sir !

Glad ya liked it and, yeah, by the end of the night my throat and voice are shot. I naturally have a voice that does better in the higher registers, so that helps some. I also don't have the projection it sounds like, that's years worth of learning to take advantage of amplification. I'm actually singing at a lower volume than people think.

I'm not a great vocalists - but I'll do it. I can sing, I'm just not that great. As mentioned many times in these threads, I've had the chance to work with brilliant vocalists. (That has helped me a great deal.) But, it's enough to know my limitations and to know that I'm just not that great.

On the plus side, I can mimic some artists fairly well. Hell, I can even kinda sound like Bob Dylan.

Back in my younger days (believe it or not ) I used to sing some Metal songs Judas Priest .. You Got Another Thing Comin as an example. I've done a bunch of Soul, R&B, Funk but in my "seasoned citizen days " I've gone for the more mellow stuff and mostly the stuff I write. As of late I'm getting the band itch again, I've started contacting people I want to work with, and almost all of them are ready to get started. It's a lot of work, but if you have the right people it can be a whole lot of fun as well. Your vocals were very impressive on a ( for my vocal ability ) an impossible song to sing. I look forward to hearing more tell the Mrs. I said hello.
