I don't know why. They must be over engineered for the torque. I have never heard of anyone breaking a shaft on a shaft drive bike

Nope. I've never heard of anyone breaking one. I'm sure it must have happened.

It has to have happened at some point, no doubt about it

I'm pretty sure it must have happened to someone. There are millions of bikes on the road - more than cars I'm pretty sure. (Count all the nations who have shitty roads and congested cities.) So, it must have happened, right? Surely, someone somewhere has broken a driveshaft on a motorcycle.

We could probably search for that exact phrase and find video, pictures, stories, and the likes.
