Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link (fngt.gq). That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then you can donate.

Good evening all and Happy 4th. 'Murica, Fuck Yeah!!

@TheBuddha and Biff, along with the band, are off melting faces and breaking hearts this weekend so he asked me to post this from him. Absolutely amazing replication of one of Rocks most famous songs and solos. Enjoy.

Hey, I'm not here tonight. Well, I'm probably here right now, but I'll be hitting the stage sometime tonight.

Tonight, we have something from the boards from last weekend. Unfortunately, the crowd bleeds through in a few places and they get really noisy at the end of every song - even if we run straight into a different song. They love making noise.

Anyhow, you can hear me doing lead guitar and vocals. You get to hear the ladies (not including Biff, as she was in sound for this) doing some backup work just to mix things up a little. There's a couple of places where the volume was uneven, so blame Biff for that. All-in-all, it's pretty decent, especially for a live replication.

BDE Comfortably Numb (06.26.21) (share.fngt.gq)

Enjoy that Gillmore bend and rock on!

Must be a great feeling standing up there tearing that solo up.

It's a blast. There were a ton of people there. There were even more (so I understand) last night. We're here all weekend and making bank, so that we have money for the lean times.

[–] 2 pts

Thanks!

I'm going to go make some noise. I'll sit out the 2nd set. It's under 60°, which is nice. We had some sprinkles and we're expecting some more, but not enough to make us go inside. There are a ton of people here.

Hey yeah! Rock on man!

[–] 1 pt

We'll be doing Comfortably Numb again tonight.

does some math

If you listen to that track at ~23:30 you'll be almost listening to us live!

I gotta get ready to melt some faces.

Happy Independence Day all you rock-n-roll polecats. And don't spend that 16 cents all in one place.

I don't know what the name of this song is or who did it or who wrote it or anything, what I do know is my friend Chris sang this shit out of this one. He reminds me of young Johnny Cash singing this. I just called it Please Understand (soundcloud.com)

[–] 3 pts (edited )

That's great, dunno why I've never heard that one by Cash.

Here's my folks with Hank and Tubb and Mrs. Rodgers.

Thats a great photo, Hank looks so damned happy!

[–] 2 pts

He does, maybe this is before he became so miserable.

I don't know if that's a Johnny Cash song, I don't know who sings it. Juts my friend reminds me of him when he sang that song

very nice, I like the percussion track, fits it well.

[–] 2 pts

Thanks. It was around '95, and I had a new used Alesis drum machine, and a new used Tascam 688 to record on. I had never had home multi-tracking ability before, so I just started stacking shit to see what happened.

[–] 2 pts

Sounds cool. Great bass tone. What kind of percussion are you using on that one?

[–] 2 pts

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee fucking shit under my e key.

Its an Alesis HR-16B. It's an okay substitute since my human drummer was murdered in his sleep.

[–] 2 pts

Cool!

Did a crazy woman murder your drummer?

I've had several crazy women tell me they were going to murder me in my sleep

Hello everybody. This here song was requested that Chris and I play so here you go, Hank Williams My Bucket's Got A Hole In It (soundcloud.com) by us.

[–] 3 pts

I have a pic of my grandparents sitting and drinking with Hank and Ernest Tubb and Mrs. Jimmie Rodgers in a San Antonio bar. My grandma was best friends with Mrs. Rodgers.

Why is my comment pale and hard to read?

[–] 1 pt

I don't know why your comment is pale and hard to read

[–] 2 pts

Hank would be proud!

[–] 2 pts

I like the twang he added. Nice tune.

[–] 2 pts

Thanks COF. Hope you're doing well! I've got a lot of great stuff from Chris and I last night so I am going to flood the thread with music tonight. Hopefully others join in!

[–] 2 pts

Not sure how long I'll be here but I'm looking forward to hearing y'all.

I've got artistic talent in many areas. Sadly music isn't one of them. I wish I could play the sax or guitar. It's maddening because I write lyrics sometimes, but can't read or write music. I know what the music sounds like in my head, but have no way to convey it.

Get yourself an instrument and some lessons

This here song is one that was shared by Nadesh back some three or four years ago or something. I don't remember what she called or if it was one of her own songs but since Chris and I both love her along with all the rest of you, we decided to cover her song. I call it I Like (soundcloud.com)

Here is Chris and I playing shaving cream (soundcloud.com)

[–] 1 pt

Here is another that we played last night, Dave Van Ronk's Zen Koans Gonna Rise Again (soundcloud.com). It started out a little shaky but after the first few seconds it's wonderful

[–] 1 pt

here's our version of Otis Reddings hard to handle (soundcloud.com)

[–] 1 pt

Here are my friend Chris and I playing Leonard Cohens hallelujia (soundcloud.com), except this time I played on a keyboard along with Chris on guitar and singing

[–] 2 pts

Man alive that progression is so cool and the melody is great and fits like like a glove. I don't understand the lyrics but who cares about lyrics.

Well done.

Now I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you dont really care for music, do you? It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor falls, the major lifts The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew her She tied you to a kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Well, maybe there's a God above As for me all I've ever learned from love Is how to shoot somebody who outdrew you But it's not a crime that you're hear tonight It's not some pilgrim who claims to have seen the Light No, it's a cold and it's a very broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Instrumental Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Well people I've been here before I know this room and I've walked this floor You see I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch But listen love, love is not some kind of victory march, no It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah There was a time you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show it to me, do you? And I remember when I moved in you And the holy dove she was moving too And every single breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Now I've done my best, I know it wasn't much I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch I've told the truth, I didnt come here to London just to fool you And even though it all went wrong I'll stand right here before the Lord of song With nothing, nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah
