Yeah, there is no reason for it to pulsate. Like I mentioned earlier, some people are never happy.

I know you use bass drum mics. I just wonder if that would get better bass response with the large diaphragm of that mic LoLMy son has a couple subwoofer boxes and speakers laying around

LOL I guarantee the amps I/we use have much, much better fidelity, including low-register bass tones, than that cheap ass, pointlessly large speaker.

I don't cheap out on sound gear. ;-) So, I'm pretty sure you can do better than that, though probably not on a budget. If you're on a budget, give it a shot. If you're into buying stupidly expensive gear, use that!

Actually I was looking at getting a drum mic pack and that includes a bass drum mic, but I have three bass drums, so maybe I will put a speaker in front of one of the others LoL

I just use a matched pair of double-pumpers. I'm also back to using my set here... I miss my kit in VA.
