Fuckers will put it in beef stew. You'll think you're gonna bite into delicious potato - 'cause it's got potato in it, and it turns out to be a fucking chunk of turnip.

My parents had some strict rules - and eating some of what was served was one of those rules. So, I had to eat turnip. It was torture. I'd find ways to get around it, complete with entirely skipping the meal.

yeah we had to sit at the table until we ate everything that was on our plate when I was a child

I did not pass that rule along to my kids.

I did enforce the rule that you eat what you take.

But, I didn't make them eat foods they truly didn't like. No... No, that fucking rule pissed me the fuck off as a child.

I did have them try all sorts of types of food. That was fun. Start with small portions, 'cause you gotta eat what you take.
