It's a damned good thing it worked out the way it did!

I'd probably be dead from a drug overdose if that had happened. I'd have ended up a slob, addicted to probably opiates, unable to find meaningful employment, and eventually just nailed myself with a hot-shot, either on purpose or by accident.

All things considered, paying the financial penalties was the best possible outcome from t he situation.

Hell you'd probably be willing to give up a significant portion of all your money to keep the outcomes the same

Oh, I'd have happily paid 10x the price to remain out of jail and have the outcome that I have today.
