Sweet, it's great to see another piper here! How far along are you in learning? I've been playing for about four years, but I still feel like a beginner in a lot of ways because I don't get the chance to practice regularly enough.
Only 4 months so well behind you. This is a multi year project.
Good news is that there is a rural pipe band nearby who does free practice lessons weekly. Which I'll join once business and kids grants me free time
Nice! I started playing on a whim, and ended up in my local pipe band, too. My instructor is the pipe major, it turned out, so I couldn't really say no. It's been really good for my playing, especially since we compete.
I think the key to learning anything new is finding a use.
That means you and i finding a crowd to play to (busking) or a band to join.
For a while, I was practicing weekly at the park, and that's been a lot of fun. I made some friends, I've randomly gotten some tips, and I've made a few people's day.
I was pirating books the other day and thought about you.
So, I pirated some books for you too!
Cool, thanks! I'll check it out when I get a chance.
I was pirating guitar books for Biff when I thought about my unread book on bagpipes. That made me think of you. So, I typed bagpipes into the search and the file contains a couple of books and a couple of papers about bagpipes. I figured I'd pirate 'em while I was already pirating books.
One of 'em looks pretty good and another one looks pretty informative. The other two are kinda meh looking. Enjoy!
