Again, unrelated - but possibly of medium importance...
If I disappear, it's the goddamned hotel's internet going down again. It went down at 11:50 and was restored at 13:57. (I happened to look at my phone, so I know the time.)
Seriously...
This is a goddamned luxurious hotel. How the fuck can they not keep the 'net up and running?!?
Also, I learned that I'm technically not in Norfolk. There's a greater metropolitan area, including Virginia Beach, and I'm not actually in Norfolk. Huh... Things I learned.
I'm still gonna say I'm in Norfolk, 'cause that's ingrained and close enough.
Isn't that mainly a jurisdential, taxation issue declaration? Does mail come to you as a Norfolk address? Are the police Norfolk police, a sheriff has jurisdiction, maybe under an agreement? Are you therefore a sovereign citizen?
So where are you legally if not Norfolk?
I'm technically in Virginia Beach. At least that's what the person at the desk says. The mailing address is in fact Norfolk.
I do not think it matters much. Like most municipal areas, they most surely work together in some departments.
It's a bit like Boston. Boston is just one small area. There's Dorchester, Roxbury, Cambridge, East Boston, etc...
It all just kinda flows together along the coast, with the I-95 corridor running right through.
Also, speaking of hotel stuff...
In about 2 months, I'll have broken even on my hotel investment. Even during the downturn, they're doing okay.
My kids are starting to show up. I might be back this evening.
