I'm considering spending some of my Christmas money on a "bagpipe mute", which is a special bag that fits over the chanter and you stick your hands in it. The price is kind of outrageous for what it is, but it'd let me play my real set inside. It wouldn't sound as good without drones, but the mechanics of playing the bag and just getting fresh moisture through it regularly is kind of important maintenance. Keeps the bag from leaking air or growing mold.
That sounds like a wise purchase.
Being a musician can get REALLY expensive.
Yeah. The worst part about spending the money is that I still have to find the time and energy to use the damn thing or it's a total waste.
It could be worse. You could be a guitarist! We always "need" a new guitar, new amp, new stompbox, etc...
Heck, even pianists have it better. They only need to buy one piano and you can get one of those for $600.
