First, I have something pretty special for tonight. The thread is soon upon us. I am prepared!

But, I might have been imbibing and I've got a question for you...

What is your New Years Resolution?

Mine? Mine is the same as it always is. I resolve to not confuse other drivers by driving both backwards and forwards at the same time.

I never fail that. I've made the same resolution since the late 80s. I always keep it!

Oh, yeah... 20:00 Eastern Time in s/Guitar, there's gonna be a guitar thread!

I'll just do a new purpose-built structure and then outfit accordingly.

The biggest drawback is then I'd have a real studio on the property. I know the kind of people who are attracted to such a thing.

Would you be using it for your own enjoyment exclusively, or do you have enough bands up there that you could start making records for other people?

I know damned well that I'd be letting people use it. You can't keep a studio like this hidden. They'll find out and ask for free studio time. This will attract a certain class of people, among whom many I call my friends...

I still don't want 'em in my studio at all hours of the day and night.

Yeah that’s exactly why I want to build one offsite and have a business partner. I’d certainly let some friends use the studio when it’s not booked, but we plan on making it a business. Ideally he’ll get good enough at tracking that I can focus on mixing, but I’ll still be really hands on for the first couple years I’m sure.
