Do they do this for recognition? No, they know like we all do that they'll be called names and regarded with suspicion until they accomplish something and if they do something stupid they'll be disavowed, condemned and abandoned. It sucks but that is the reality of resisting tyranny. Nobody is going to be recognized as a hero for a long time, probably not even during our lifetimes. That isn't what matters anyway.
