I think she realized she didn’t know what it meant and felt foolish. Once you’re no longer spouting the talking points you’ve been conditioned to repeat cognitive dissonance can creep in and I think the guy broke her brain asking for a simple thing, a definition of a word she’d said over and over and didn’t know the meaning of.

Holy shit, with one question he shattered her entire world view. Starts crying and gets all choked up, reaching up to grab at her heart levels of emotion.

She had to leave because he asked her what she meant. She didn't even know what she meant, and it broke her to realize she doesn't even know a thing about what she's told she suffered from since every day before she was even conceived.

I speculate that much of their trauma is self induced of self perceived. I suppose that wouldn’t make it any less real in their minds, but the frailty of their minds is shocking. How little we are capable enduring today, how quickly it breaks us.
