Two years ago, I was stabbed at Bremen Central Station. Knife attack.
And I handled it well, I fought back, he got punched in the face and everything.
But I was shocked by how the justice system handled it. Nothing has been done so far.
The perpetrator was released the same night with the explanation that he no longer posed a threat.
He has now been granted German citizenship and they are downplaying it as assault.
So I say, “But he tried to kill me.”
And then the justice system says, “Yes, but he didn't.”
I say, “He stabbed me five times.”
Then the justice system says, “Yes, but he stopped at some point.”
I say, “Yes, because the blade broke and because he got a beating."
And I was able to get over it for myself, of course in combination with therapy, but I thought, “If something happens to my wife or my family and I have to go through this ordeal with the justice system again, I won’t be able to do it a second time.” And that’s when I said, “We have to leave.”

Der Täter wurde in der selben Nacht wieder freigelassen mit der Erklärung er stellt keine Gefahr mehr dar.
Er hat jetzt die Deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft gekriegt und man drosselt das runter auf Körperverletzung.
Wo ich dann sag' "Aber er hat versucht, mich umzubringen."
Und dann sagt halt die Justiz "Ja, aber hat er nicht."
Ich sag' "Er hat fünf mal in mich eingestochen."
Dann sagt die Justiz "Ja, aber hat ja irgendwann aufgehört."
Ich sag' "Ja, weil die Klinge abgebrochen ist und weil er kassiert hat."
Und ich konnte das für mich noch halbwegs wegstecken, natürlich in Kombination mit Therapie, aber ich hab' gedacht "Wenn meiner Frau etwas passiert oder meiner Familie und ich muss mich mit dieser Justiz noch einmal so durch quälen, das schaff' ich kein zweites mal." Und da hab' ich gesagt "Wir müssen gehen."
