German Chocolate Cake is actually American, made by a guy with last name German (of English descent). The best American bakery in my area was by German immigrants and they called it Black Forest Bakery. Great cakes and breads worth the price for many years, as it was a real bakery (not just stuff baked offsite and shipped in stale and soft like supermarkets do). Now replaced with a fake French but really Vietnamese bakery that isn't worth visiting unless you want a baguette.
