If you want them to come back, you need perennials, not annuals.
perennials are plants that will come back and regrow year after year, while annuals die off when temperatures get too cold and require you to plant new plants the following spring.
Yes I want them to come back every year. I planted a bunch of wildflowers this year and they stuck to two out of the four places. But I can't remember if they're annuals or perennials. I guess I'll find out next spring.
If you know the names of what you planted, you could look it up to find out, or just wait and be surprised next spring.
I made sure to only get perennials when I did my mulch bed. Unfortunately, over the years, the chipmunks ate all the irises, day lillies, and tulips. Only thing I have left now are the daffodils and lilacs. :(
Yeah I was supposed to get rid of the Chipmunks and some of the squirrels when I was home. I failed on all those accounts I just got tied up with other stuff and let the chipmunks run wild. The deer was a big problem on the property. They ate everything I would chase them off wherever I could. Throw rocks at them and stuff.
