I painted an ENORMOUS fence (to a 12 year old, it went around a couple of acres of land) to get $200 to buy a Soundblaster Pro card just so I could hear some sounds that weren't beep. Though I will say, Star Control 2 did an AMAZING job putting the same music out of the PC speaker as the sound blaster, you just could not control the volume on the PC speaker.
My mom got a trash 80 with the built in monitor from work that wasn’t useful that I had.
On I was mistaken. It was a TRS-80 Model 1, the monitor was separate, I just looked and remember that shitty case with the big plastic badge on it.
I’d likely still have it if Mom didn’t have to take it back to work at some point.
