Too much, it's called a raspberry pi

It's not the same to just hook up a pi and some controller. The CRT with the console controls create the experience.

so plug up a crt and connect the pi via it's audio plug that doubles as a reprogrammable rca connection. Build urself an arcade gamepad w/ new parts https://www.namcoparts.com/Ecommerce/category/commercial-games/jumbo-jumpin

It won't be the same RGB quality. Also, universal gamepads may not be the best thing for every game.

The pi ihas not enough power for emulating some consoles/games.

A pi2 emulates up to ps1 w/ astounding precision as they used early ARM processors. N64 not so much. We're on pi4 now tho... 8gb of ram etc... the pi2 can effectively emulate 40+ retro consoles on a sbc. It's only gotten better. N64 emulation is still trash. You'll get mario kart but not goldeneye

That wasn’t his goal. He wanted to build the ultimate arcade station and the pi4 couldn’t achieve that, yet. Maybe the next gen.
