Yeah I don't buy the "source" for this leak either. Sounds like some last minute attempt to protect the tattered remains of the female writers reputations and hide what really happened. I also note they don't give any specifics of all the "misogynistic" and "toxic masculinity", "gamer bro" harassment he is supposedly guilty of because they know it'd be easy to go after them for libel.
