Also most EU countries and im sure even in the US, maternity laws are absolutely dumb. For example, in some EU countries it is illegal to fire a mother who is on leave. You can hire someone new, but since you can't fire someone without heavy expensive cost and legal battles, that one employee leaving will cost the company a total cost of two workers, on top of the retraining costs, time/money lost on productivity, and on top of this if said maternal employee decides to quit, you are still obligated to pay out to them. There's a reason women weren't allowed in the workplace, a single woman in a company can cost the same as a whole team of men when you account for insurance costs, time off, loss of productivity, tardiness, seniority/affirmative action politics, destructive rumors, and passive aggressiveness. And that's the thing, companies are not even trying to be overtly sexist, its just most companies cant afford this woke bullshit
